Can you go over cracks and expansion?
Yes, all cracks have to be filled in with an anti-fracture membrane. Expansion joints should be duplicated in the layer of Ultra Stone.
-
Is it suitable for driveways?
Yes, Ultra Stone is more resilient and stronger than concrete.
-
Is it slippery?
All surfaces can be non-slip at no extra cost, when a fine silica is spread on the wet epoxy and allowed to dry.
-
Will moss or algae grow on Ultra Stone?
Moss or algae will grow only if dirt is allowed to accumulate between the stones. To prevent this growth, powerwash or simply scrub the surface with a push broom.
-
Will any epoxy work in this application?
No, there are literally thousands of different epoxies with an equal number of uses. Each one is formulated to do a specific job. Although any one will appear to do the same job as the next, characterisitics such as moisture sensitivity, bond strength, chemical compatibility, flexibility, and viscosity are just a few that can cause a breakdown of the product in time. Ultra Stone products have been thoroughly tested for strength and durability.
-
Will the porous material lift or crack during freezing or thawing?
No, because the material is porous, any moisture trapped inside follows a path of least resistance. When this water freezes, it expands out to the spaces between the stones. Also in hot weather, the material itself expands into it's own spaces and as such, is resistant to cracking.
-
How long will this material last and is there anything I can do to keep it looking new?
All earthly materials exposed to the weather will eventually, over a period of time, show surface breakdown. This loss of shine is in no way an indication of structural deterioration. Simply top coating the existing surface rejuvinates the shine.
-
Is Ultra Stone too heavy to be used on suspended decks?
No, Ultra Stone at it's maximum distributes a weight of less than 3 lbs per square foot.
-
How long is the guarantee?
Ultra Stone warrants exterior applications for a period of three years, and interior applications for a period of five years. This guarantee covers cracking and chipping.
